12 Soap Opera Characters Fans Want Recast!

It can be maddening when casting directors decide to plunk a new actor in the place of a beloved character whose laid down the groundwork of earning verisimilitude and winning the hearts of audiences. Here are twelve cases where producers and executives broke our hearts and recast our favorite actors and actresses in daytime soap operas.

12. Victoria Newman

Victoria Newman is the daughter of the ruthless Victor Newman on CBS's The Young and the Restless. Victoria's character was born in 1992 and played by child actor Ashley Nicole Millan for eight years. Victoria went through a superfast (sped-up) adolescence, and Heather Tom was recast as Victoria Newman. Audiences grew attached to Heather Tom as she portrayed Newman for twelve years until 2003. Heather won two Daytime Emmy Awards as an Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series with eight other Emmy Award nominations. Amelia Heinle stepped in to play Victoria in 2005 and has ridden the story-lines of relationships with older men, difficult pregnancies, and loads of family drama. Victoria's coupling with J.T. Hellstrom might seem very real because Amelia Heinle and Thad Luckinbill are actually married. Heinle won Daytime Emmy's for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2014 and 2015, but fans still miss Heather Tom as Victoria Newman.
