13 Fun Facts To Learn About Winnie the Pooh Before the Release of Christopher Robin

The inner child in all of us is getting pumped up to see the new live action Winnie the Pooh movie, Christopher Robin, so what better time to learn more about that silly old bear than the present? We’ve rounded up some fun facts about Winnie the Pooh and his friends, with some that will surely amaze you.

13. Winnie Was Real

During World War I, a soldier bought a real black bear cub from a hunter for $20, and it became the troop’s mascot. The bear, named Winnipeg or ‘Winnie’ for short was donated to the London Zoological Gardens once combat was over. That’s where the real Christopher Robin Milne met the bear and named his own teddy after, which his father A.A Milne used as inspiration for his book.
