Veteran Canadian actor, Donald Sutherland has made a legendary contribution to cinema. His extraordinary career spans over 5 decades and nearly 200 different shows and films. His exploits include some great roles in well-known movies including M*A*S*H, Ordinary People, Dirty Dozen, and Hunger Games. On November 12, 2017, the famed actor received a well-deserved recognition from the Academy.

15. The Dirty Dozen

The Dirty Dozen set the stage for Sutherland’s international stardom. The all-time classic World War II film was centered on military prisoners serving life or long-term prison sentences. The mission: survive a dangerous D-Day eve mission to have their sentences suspended. Sgt. Pinkley (Sutherland) did a heck of a job and nearly died doing it. Word is Sutherland was not the original cast for the commando role. He got the part after first choice, Clint Walker’s character found the role a little too difficult.
