14. The first tie happened in 1932

The first Academy Award show was held in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and it only took three years for the first tie to happen! At the 1932 Academy Award ceremony, the powers that be could not reach a verdict on who to award the Best Actor award to. Not only did this year mark the historic first official Oscar tie, but it also marked the only year where a film only won one award!
