Born in Tokyo in 1916, Dame Olivia Mary de Havilland appeared in 48 feature films in her fifty-three-year career. One of the few actors from the golden age of Classical Hollywood still alive, she is remembered for the gentle, lovely characters she played in her early films and the groundbreaking roles of her later ones.
15. The Swarm, 1978
Even Class Acts Bomb at the Box Office Sometimes. No Oscar for de Havilland’s role as Maureen Schuster in this stinker of a movie. Don’t blame her, The Swarm was bad from the jump even with its cast of master actors including de Havilland and the likes of Michael Caine, Henry Fonda, and Fred MacMurray.
