Though he is best known for playing James Bond, Sir Sean Connery had a long and dynamic career and appeared in some of the most well-known movies of the last 60 years. Connery was born in Scotland and worked a variety of jobs throughout his life there. He had a promising career as a soccer player but ultimately chose to pursue acting as he believed it would have more longevity. Before retiring in 2003, Connery won two British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, three Golden Globes, and an Academy Award.
15. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
Loosely based on the series written by comic book legend Alan Moore, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen follows a cast of super-powered literary icons as they attempt to prevent terrorists from initiating a war. The Avengers-style team includes Tom Sawyer, Captain Nemo, Dorian Gray, and Dr. Jekyll, all led by Allan Quatermain, played by Connery. The film was a critical failure but has seen some cult success due in part to the intriguing plot and charisma of the actors.
