15 Celebrity Careers Ruined After Coming Out
Posted in Lifestyle on Jan 17th, 2019
Time and time again we hear stories of celebrities who mustered up the courage to publicly come out as part of the LGBTQ+ community, and how they were constantly advised that doing so would ruin their careers. Today society has become far more accepting non-heterosexual identities; however, the pioneers of being a publicly gay celebrity were never able to get their careers back where they left them. These 15 stars were ruined by their courageous feat.
15. Wentworth Miller
The heartthrob from "Prison Break" and Mariah Carey’s endlessly dramatic music video for "We Belong Together," Wentworth Miller was the last person people expected to come out of the closet. Having come out in 2013, the actor said "I feel more fully expressed. After Prison Break, I came to grips with the fact that my public persona was in misalignment with how I actually felt. I was out to a handful of people in my twenties, and once I hit 30, I was out to family and friends. But professionally, I created this air of ‘We don't address that thing.'” Miller faced backlash for his decision and disappeared from tv screens.
